There are several anastomosis methods, and there is a debate on which one to select for low rectal cancer near the anal canal. In this session, Dr. Masaaki Ito discusses the selection of the anastomosis method based on the case. Firstly, Dr. Ito gives some management tips with a clear strategy for successful selection. The way to proceed will also differ depending on gender due to different anatomical characteristics. When it comes to complications, the most disastrous complications are ischemic ones, which can be of two types. Different scenarios that surgeons can find during the surgery are described.
